Tell me about yourself:: I’ve been married for over a year now to a man I met in high school. He is currently in the Air Force, and we’re living in Las Vegas ( which isn’t as glamorous as the movies would like you to think ). I’m a reader, but especially a writer, an artist, a photographer, and a Buddhist. I am fascinated by natural formations in the earth, rocks, stones, fossils, the sea, and anything to do with nature, really — including animals! I am going to school to receive certifications as a veterinary technician and also in canine behaviour and training. I’m working on getting a job as a leasing agent/secretary/personal assistant, though, so we’ll see how much time I have for school! I am the oldest of five ( soon to be six ) and I ream of owning acreage and my own small farm or ranch someday. I’m conflicted, confused, and often wrong — but I’m alive, and that is what matters.

Tell me about yourself:: Hey, I’m Vanessa, but lately I’ve been going by “Ness”, especially online.

I suppose I should start by telling why I chose this photo, as some might find it a little risque. It was during this photoshoot, where I modeled nearly-nude for a couple of my photographer friends that I finally felt really beautiful in my own skin. I am far from perfect, but seeing pictures where I thought I looked good actually helped. I suggest it to anyone!

I decided to post here now because I’m going through a difficult time and enjoy the support a blog like this offers.

On March 1st, 2009, I my mom died from cancer. We had a very rocky relationship for the last five years of her life, and when she got sick — and died only three months later — I never had the time to make amends and be the daughter I hoped to be. With the two-year anniversary of her death coming up soon, I’m feeling the stress of reliving her illness, death, and our rocky relationship all over again. It’s tough, but since getting through is really my only option, I try hard to focus on the positive and dream about the day I can rekindle a mother-type bond with my own children.

My life may not be perfect, and I may get down on it allsometimes, but all things considered, I’m doing pretty well. Two months until I graduate college for journalism, and then who knows where life will take me. If I have it my way, the rest of this ride is going to be one hell of an adventure.

Tell me about yourself:: I’m Australian. This is interesting to many people I’ve spoken to on the internet.
I write when my mind lets me, I take my top off whilst sober at social gatherings, I’m queer, and I’ve started listening to Audiobooks because my greatest fear is that if I go blind I will hate listening to them in place of real books. I hope to get used to them before my eyesight goes (if it goes).

I’m a feminist, and an atheist, but I try my hardest to listen to other people. I get angry at the seeming futility of the world. I want to change it.

I’ve always been very self-concious and my way to combat that is to force myself into situations I’m not comfortable with.

I want to travel the world. I love to eat, and I love to listen to other languages.
